After my flight Vienna–Kalamata: How do I get to my destination?
Kalamata airport (KLX) is located about eight kilometres west of the city. After your flight from Vienna to Kalamata, you can reach the city centre by bus or taxi in about a quarter of an hour. You can also rent a car and drive to your accommodation yourself.
In the city centre, you can easily reach all the sights on foot or by bike. Also, you have access to the local bus network. There are also regular buses from the city to the regional surroundings as well as to more distant destinations such as Tripoli or Patras.

- Sightseeing: From the medieval castle you have a wonderful view of the old town and the harbour bay. In July there is an annual dance festival here. The Church of the Apostles on 23 March Square is of special significance, and it is also worth visiting the railway museum.
- Regional food: Kalamata is the home of the famous tasty black olives. Also recommended are the traditional sesame bar pastelia, the fried dough rings lalangia and the roast pork gournopoula.
- Shore walk: Be sure to take a walk along the romantic shore promenade in the south. During summer it is very lively there, as numerous shops and cafés invite you to stroll and enjoy. Passing palm trees and sailing boats, you will also reach the beach of Kalamata.
