At the airport with the family
While air travel is an exciting experience for children, time spent queuing at the airport can often be boring or stressful. To make it as pleasant as possible for you and your children, we have put together some tips.
General tips on spending time at the airport
As well as queues, there are a number of exciting places that children can discover at the airport. Visit the viewing terrace and watch the aircraft taking off. Or you can go to the play area, which is equipped with games and craft items. You can now find these at most major airports. Restaurants often offer toys for children – simply ask the staff about them. In addition, families can always get priority when boarding the aircraft.
With children at Vienna Airport
Check-in during the holiday time
In the summer holidays, Austrian Airlines has a dedicated check-in counter for families with children up to twelve years. As parents, you can check in in peace while the youngest passengers enjoy their own children’s area. You can find Family Check-in counters at the Austrian Star Alliance Terminal.
Offers at Vienna Airport
At Vienna Airport, young passengers are just as welcome as adult ones. You can therefore find a comprehensive programme there for children and special offers for travelling families.
Family Fun Gate
At the Family Fun Gate, your child can run off their energy before the flight. The 70 square metre indoor playground offers everything that children love. There is also a changing station for our very small guests there. The Family Fun Gate is located at the beginning of the F-Gates.
Vienna Airport provides a pushchair free of charge if you have already handed yours in at check-in. You can use the loaned pushchair until shortly before departure and return it to the relevant member of staff when boarding.
