Sur Mesure
She has designed carpets for W Hotels and developed graphic concepts for Lacoste. With the Sure Mesure, a restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental Paris is added to the portfolio of Norwegian Heidi Winge Ström. Ström wraps the venue on Rue Saint-Honoré - according to Wallpaper*s Design Awards the best new restaurant in 2012 - in white textile walls, structured tablecloths and napkins and creates tableware which is referred to by Mandarin Oriental as high fashion jewel. The concept was provided by the designers Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku. For the design on the plates, the restaurant sends Thierry Marx on the catwalk. The chef and Bruce Willis lookalike has been awarded multiple prizes and is devoted to experimental, Japanese cuisine. The result: soy risotto with black truffles or poached fig with Banyuls and ginger sorbet. Likewise some form of design.

What to see in Paris

What to see in Paris
Palais de Tokyo
The Palais de Tokyo is the ideal location to present art. The sobering cracked concrete, the exposed ventilation shafts and the counter found in a campervan could almost be a concept. The truth is, they ran out of money during renovations. The grotesque and uncouth ambience has only given this arthouse an even bigger name. The young art scene love the unpretentious venue and the Palais de Tokyo pays it's dues: it is open until midnight. Paintings, sculptures, drawings, fotography, video, fashion, lierature and dance are all on show here. The exhibitions are daring and often well worth seeing. Vernissages take place on the first Thursday of the month and entry is free!

Gaultier
Jean Paul Gaultier is world-famous. Not jsut as a designer, but also as a guarantor for skew and deadly-trendy fashion collections. And his most well-known customer? Madonna. And she doesn't go shopping just anywhere. With his extravagant ideas, the Parisian caters for thrilling surprises each and every season. Those who like the designs will melt when they experience the asthetic in his boutique. So make good use of the in-store consultation and slip into a few hot pieces, such as a piece out ot the Prêt-à-Porter collection.

Hotel Eldorado
Is a hotel just for tourists? Not necessarily. The small and chamrming Hotel Eldorado, with an attached bistro is loved by Parisians, for good reason! The green inner courtyard is so appealing and inviting that you never want to leave, and the location is very quiet and peaceful, which makes the Eldorado the ideal place to stay, eat and feel good! The rooms are charming, even if they are simply furnished. However, be warned, some rooms do not feature their own bathroom! However the prices here are very modest for Paris standards.
