Terms and conditions of use for austrian.com voucher

The Austrian Airlines compensation voucher (referred to below as “austrian.com voucher”) is an offer of Austrian Airlines AG, Office Park 2, A-1300 Vienna Airport (referred to below as “Austrian”). The austrian.com voucher is a voucher that Austrian can issue to passengers voluntarily and without prejudice as a gesture of goodwill.

People who accept this offer (referred to below as “users”) have the option of using the voucher value by way of payment for a flight booking on www.austrian.com, subject to the conditions below.

These terms and conditions of use apply to the use of the austrian.com voucher. The General Conditions of Carriage also apply at all times in addition to these terms and conditions of use.

The austrian.com voucher may be issued as compensation. The austrian.com voucher is sent by email in the form of a redemption code. You must provide an email address to receive it.

The austrian.com voucher can only be redeemed online on www.austrian.com.

The austrian.com voucher can only be used for bookings charged in the same currency as the voucher. A voucher issued in USD ($) can therefore only be used for bookings that are also processed in USD ($).

The austrian.com voucher can only be used to book flights operated by Austrian that have an Austrian flight number (e.g. OS123). The austrian.com voucher cannot be used for domestic flights.

It cannot be converted into other currencies. It cannot be used for tickets that have already been booked or for selected extra services outside a flight booking. Unless otherwise stated on the ticket, the austrian.com voucher is valid from the time of issue until the end of the year in which it has been issued, and then for a further three years thereafter (e.g. issue date 21.8.2024 with validity until 31.12.2027).

Select the “Voucher” payment option when paying for the booking and follow the instructions. Up to three flight vouchers can be redeemed in a single booking.

If the amount of the austrian.com voucher is not sufficient to purchase a new flight in full, you can pay the difference by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express) during the redemption process.

If the voucher value exceeds the purchase price of the ticket, the remaining value of the voucher can be used for further purchases within the term of validity of the issued austrian.com voucher.

The austrian.com voucher must not be sold or transferred. The austrian.com voucher is not tied to a specific person. The holder of the austrian.com voucher therefore does not have to be the passenger of the ticket to be purchased or the user of the extra service selected.

By redeeming the austrian.com voucher and purchasing a ticket, you create a contract of carriage between the austrian.com voucher holder and Austrian. General Conditions of Carriage apply.

Once the austrian.com voucher is used, its validity expires for the amount used.

If you cancel tickets paid for with an austrian.com voucher in accordance with the legal or fare conditions and apply for a refund, the refund value is transferred back to the austrian.com voucher.

austrian.com vouchers cannot be refunded in cash. This does not affect the provisions under Flight bookings and redeeming austrian.com vouchers.

The liability of Austrian to users for compensation is excluded, providing the claim is based on minor negligence. This does not apply if an obligation is breached that the contract must provide for in accordance with its meaning and purpose, or fulfilment of which allows the proper performance of the contract and on compliance with which users may generally rely. If Austrian is liable in principle, the claim for compensation shall be limited to the typical contractual and foreseeable damages (value of the established service).

The limitations of liability do not apply in the event of personal injury, gross negligence or wilful intent by employees, vicarious agents or legal representatives of Austrian, and in the case of legally stipulated liability irrespective of fault or any guarantees undertaken.

Users are aware that unrestricted availability of the website www.austrian.com is not technically feasible with the relevant services from Austrian. Austrian does not provide any guarantee in this respect. However, Austrian shall endeavour to keep www.austrian.com continuously available as far as possible. In particular, maintenance, security or capacity works on the website and events that lie outside the scope of influence of Austrian (e.g. disruptions to public communication networks or power cuts, etc.) may lead to short-term disruptions or the temporary suspension of services. Austrian shall only undertake maintenance, security or capacity works on the website as required and as far as possible at times of low demand. Austrian does not guarantee that third-party services, in particular network services or other services provided by third parties, will always be free from disruption or faults or reliably available.

Austrian is entitled to amend these terms and conditions of participation with immediate effect for the future. Austrian will inform users about this. Austrian shall only have this right if the amendment is reasonable for users in consideration of the interests of Austrian.

These terms and conditions of participation and all legal relationships between users and Austrian are governed by Austrian law (excluding the UN Convention of Contracts for the International Sale of Goods and private international law) unless another national law is mandatory.
