Terms and conditions of sale for selecting seats in online check-in

Enhance your travel experience by selecting your preferred seat during online check-in. Options such as more legroom, extra comfort or seats closer to the front are available for purchase while checking in online. Make your journey more enjoyable with a seat that suits your needs.

Passengers have the option of choosing between various seat categories at different prices.

Passengers whose fare does not include a free seat reservation will be allocated a seat randomly during online check-in. We do our utmost to ensure adjacent seating for passengers travelling in the same reservation. Passengers have the option of changing the seat allocated to them during online check-in for a fee.

Passengers whose fare does include a free seat reservation, can change their existing seat within the same seat category free of charge, subject to availability. Passengers who have already booked a seat reservation and want to change to a different seat may incur additional charges. If the price of the new seat is higher than the originally paid seat, the difference will be charged. If the new seat is the same price or lower, no refund will be issued.

• The passenger must check in online on a flight operated by Lufthansa, SWISS, Brussels Airlines or Austrian Airlines.
• There are seats available on the flight on which the passenger wishes to check in.
• There are no operational reasons preventing a change of seat.
• The passenger has a confirmed booking and has been accepted for online check-in (not passengers on a waiting list).
• The passenger must check in online no later than 2 hours before departure.
  

• When purchasing a more expensive seat than the originally paid seat, the passenger can obtain a refund for the originally paid seat via our Service Centre. The passenger must apply for the refund.
• The seat fee is always payable for each segment of the route. The seat can be changed but additional charges may occur.
• The refundability of a purchased seat depends on the applicable flight ticket conditions. If the passenger does not commence the flight, the seat purchase will generally be forfeited.
• The purchase of a seat during online check-in only covers the selected seat category. The seat number within the respective category may be changed for operational reasons. In the event of an operational change, the passenger can change the new seat allocation free of charge within the same seat category, subject to availability. Refunds are not applicable under these conditions.
• Passengers can only pay by credit card.
