The Gun
The problem with pubs is meals because beyond ale and beer you won't find anything suitable for your stomach. At "The Gun" you get both. You get fish sandwich and cosy leather sofas, Lord Nelson ambience and grilled ox tongue, macaroni with cheese and blue cheese from the Auvergne. The only question that remains is: Do you feel like fine dining or pubquiz? Would you rather have a view of the Thames or tea in the salon? The Gun offers everything to any taste: Sunday lunches for families, Adnams Bitter and Aspall's Cider for students or sailor's paintings and swords on the wall for the seasoned guests. While the Gun has style, it is also loyal to its reputation as a pub. And it is  the best restaurant on the docks at that.

Brick Lane
Multi-cultural flair in London: If you want to see something else than Empire, you should visit Brick Lane. The street has always belonged to newcomers from other countries: In the past to the Huguenots, then to the German Jews, then to the Irish and eventually to the people from Bangladesh, the latter still dominating the street scene with their curry restaurants. You can taste this colourful mix. All the restaurants offer delicious and rather cheap food, but if you want wine with your food you should bring your own: Some restaurants don`t have licences for alcohol, but tolerate if you bring your own. If this is too complicated for you, you can increase your alcohol levels at one of the Brick Lane nightclubs. The famous clubs 93 Feet East and The Vibe Bar offer good drinks and round-the-clock dancing. But also the artists and designers have discovered Brick Lane, so boutiques are mushrooming in the lively quarter. You can buy the hottest vintage fashion here. Also included in the program: markets, festivals and the best graffiti in town. You will for sure not get bored in Banglatown!

Unconditional
Does that sound familiar: You are invited to a party but don't know how to dress? Eventually you end up wearing jeans at the opera ball or dressed up in a suit at a punk's party, desperately holding on to your glass because you stand out once again. There's the solution: The Unconditional always fits - or doesn't fit at all but that's a matter of taste. And that's how it works: Take sportswear, lady's fashion and business look, stir vigorously, sprinkle with some fine fabrics and uneven cuts and the result is a crazy blend just business enough for a meeting, casual enough for a walk and ladylike enough for a club visit. It's more difficult with men though as the style "sandal boots with short tracksuit trousers" is simply too eccentric. But Brad Pitt and David Beckham love it, and if they do?

Andaz
You don`t walk up to the reception, the reception comes to you. Instead of waiting in line you can take a seat at the lobby. The waiter-style staff will soon arrive with a portable PC for check-in. What on the outside appears to be Victorian, will catapult you into the 21st century inside. Today, the former station hotel enthuses its business clientele with modern design. A few pieces of the old era have remained though: mighty pillars, stucco and wide stairs remind you of times gone by, but only in the public areas. The rooms is the big surprise: you won`t find any of the fancy 19th-century design, the interior is straight and modern and smells of work: An oversize desk plus lamp by Jacobson and W-Lan are customized for business people. However, there is cosiness as well: The large beds and well-stocked mini bars alone make ambitious workaholics tune out - or turn on the flats-screen.
