Harlow
Some of the most sough-after tables are to be found in New York. And since the beginning of 2013 the city got even hotter: Richie Notar and Jim Pallotta have opened the Harlow on East 56th Street.   Richie - who was born in Queens - knows what the New Yorkers want. He began his career as a busboy in Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell's Studio 54 where he skinned potatoes and chopped onions on a daily basis. This changed when he became chef and from that point on worked in the city's top restaurants. At Nobu he was appointed General Manager. Eventually he became Managing Partner. In 2011 he founded his own gastro group and hired Meyer Davis Studio for his first own business, the restaurant/salon/café project named Harlow in Midtown Manhattan.   His designers created an oyster-shaped marble bar and an ivy wall in the winter garden. In the reception area you'll spot an original Andy Warhol and the dining tables are lighted by chandeliers from the 30s. What a hot spot!

Anthropologie
Men beware! Drink a cup of coffee, surf the web on your iPhone or take a look at the men's shop Modern Anthology in Brooklyn! Because you won't see your women for the next few hours.   They lose themselves in between frill-blouses and flared pants, pencil- and wide skirts, platform shoes and bathing suits à la Marilyn Monroe. They deck themselves in long necklaces and beaded purses. Lastly they choose upholstered wing chairs for your living room and give your beds colourfully embroidered covers. How can you stop them from doing that? There is no chance as soon as they enter the described place of delight: Anthropologie. A rather high-priced vintage-mekka on four locations in New York, without the trashy fleamarket-touch. The trendy style (a little rustic, a little coquettish, a little feminine) whirrs somewhere between Laura Ashley and Accessorize. Only without bourgeoisie- and bitch-factor.   An advice for orientation: the four stores are located in SoHo, on 5th Avenue, in Chelsea Market and in the Rockefeller Center.

W Hotel
Yes, the W Hotel New York near the Rockefeller Center has beds available - in 688 rooms, suits and Spa-suits, equipped with all the trimmings (including Munchie-Box and internet).   However, that's only a minor matter in this house. In the W Hotel New York on Lexington Avenue the main focus lies on partying - just as in all other W Hotels in New York and the rest of the world. The concept of the house: the bar is more important than the room. More precisely, on Lexington this means: the center of the illustrious goings-on is called Whiskey Blue. The name is not by chance. The bar in the design of a typical men's club has the biggest selection of whiskeys in the whole city. The golden glasses sparkle whenever their owners take them up. It smells of Single Malt Scotch and Bourbon. The W Hotel New York is open every day from 4:30 pm, on weekends starting from 6 pm. The bar closes between 2 and 4 am. Then, after all, one might indeed consider taking a hotel room (booking prices start from 229 dollars per night). They even have really comfortable names: Cozy, Spectacular, Marvelous and Wow.   By the way, Cindy Crawford's husband Rande Gerber designed the lounge with the dim light and dark brown furniture; if this is still relevant after all the whiskey.

Central Park
In the middle of New York, a green heart is beating - the Central Park. It's as important to the New Yorkers as the green Prater is to the Viennese: a green oasis amidst the city, space for recreation and fun.   Central Park stretches on 3,4 square kilometres from 59th to 110th street. The area comprises lakes, forests, hills, sculptures, sporting fields and playgrounds. And of course there are restaurants. One of them is the Loeb Boathouse at the lake. Since 1954 the guests rent rowboats and Venetian gondolas for a ride on the lake in order to watch birds on their way southwards or sit on the terrace and have a lobster roll and a jumbo crab cake.   Visitors who'd consider a rowing trip too sedative can try out one of the intertwined running routes, baseball fields or attend one of the rock concerts. There are also sculptures of America's explorer Christopher Columbus, the Danish poet Hans Christian Andersen and buildings like the Belvedere Palace at the Vista Rock.
