Flight London - Lviv

Lviv
Lviv in the west of Ukraine has a long and colourful history that shows itself in the architectural heritage of the beautiful city. The city had a bad start: shortly after it was established, it was conquered by the Tartars, who ordered the founder King Daniel to destroy the city’s fortifications. His son King Lev, who gave the city its name, started from scratch and since then Lviv prospered. It was always considered the capital of Galicia. The Lviv of today is to a large part the result of Austrian rule that started in the 18th century. You will find that in Lviv the coffee culture of the Austrians is still celebrated today, the city is full of the opulent coffee houses of the opulent kind. Armenians, Ukrainians, Germans, Poles and Jews lived together in Lviv for hundreds of years and gave the city a unique character between the East and the west. The beautiful Old Town is studded with buildings from Renaissance and Baroque to Art Nouveau and Art Deco, the Catholic Cathedral even has all the styles in one building. From the castle mound over the city, you can see the diversity that once ruled Lviv. If you are a lover of fine chocolates and sweets, you are in luck, there are several traditional chocolate manufactures in Lviv, but also other sweets are in great demand. Because Lviv is a University City, the many students are a guarantee for an active nightlife, rivalling Prague and Berlin. Local beer is a prime driver of nightlife, but Ukrainian vodka is also very present. Have fun in Lviv!
