Frequently asked questions about your flight

General questions

Due to the cooperation agreements we have with other airlines, Austrian Airlines may carry a flight number on a flight operated by a partner airline in order to offer you better connection options.

Boarding passes for flights operated by our partners with Austrian Airlines flight numbers are equally valid.

You can order your special menu either straight away when making your reservation or no later than 48 hours before departure.

Travelling to Vienna Airport by City Airport Train

The City Airport Train takes you from the city centre to Vienna Airport in only 16 minutes.

Lounges

As a general rule, access authorisation is valid for one person only on the day of departure. Our especially loyal customers also enjoy benefits here. You can find more details about these on our page Lounges at Vienna Airport.

At airports where Austrian Airlines or Star Alliance partners do not operate a lounge, we offer, where possible, the lounge of a contractual partner. Access to a contract lounge is only possible with a valid boarding card for a flight operated by Austrian. This also applies to travelling companions.

If your flight is operated under an Austrian Airlines flight number (recognizable by the abbreviation OS), you can still gain access with your boarding pass.

Unfortunately, access is valid exclusively on the day of departure.

Bus Boarding

Bus boarding allows airports to make flexible use of available aircraft parking positions and supports efficient operational processes. This helps aircraft be handled more quickly and enables airports to manage traffic flows effectively.

The use of remote stands enables greater operational flexibility and supports efficient aircraft handling. This helps minimize turnaround times on the ground, particularly at busy airports such as Vienna.

Depending on the aircraft’s parking position, passengers may enjoy short walking distances between the bus and the aircraft. Upon arrival, the direct transfer between the aircraft and terminal can also facilitate a smooth and efficient onward journey.

At international airports, aircraft are handled both at gates with passenger boarding bridges and at remote stands. This approach allows airports to make the best use of available capacity and manage aircraft movements efficiently.

The bus transfer typically takes only a few minutes. At the same time, bus boarding provides greater flexibility in aircraft handling and helps ensure smooth airport operations.

In many cases, boarding and disembarkation can even be faster, as passengers may use both the front and rear aircraft doors. This allows passenger flows to be distributed more evenly and can reduce waiting times.

Bus boarding offers a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse into airport operations. Many passengers enjoy seeing the apron, ground handling activities, and their aircraft from a perspective that is not available when boarding via a passenger boarding bridge.

For passengers in boarding groups PRE, 1, and 2, the front section of the bus is reserved. Upon arrival at the aircraft, these passengers are the first to leave the bus and therefore remain among the first to board the aircraft.

This ensures that the benefits of Priority Boarding are maintained as effectively as possible, even when bus boarding is used.

We would, of course, make a refund in this case. Simply send the voucher via email to our service partner Deutsche Telekom and provide the flight connection on which the problem occurred: hotspotservice@telekom.de

Many passengers feel disturbed by telephone conversations during the flight. For this reason and as requested by a majority of our customers, phone calls will still not be possible on board the aircraft.
