Self Service Check-in Kiosk

Avoid unnecessary waiting and use our self service kiosks to check-in and print your boarding pass. All you need is your 6-character booking reference or any form of identification (e.g. credit/debit card or passport). The kiosks offer flexibility with rebookings and waitlists. You may select adjacent seats for up to 3 passengers travelling together.

Travelling with Hand Baggage only

After receiving your boarding pass at the check-in kiosk you may walk straight through security.

Travelling with Luggage

Once you have picked out your boarding pass at the kiosk you may simply hand in your baggage at our designated "baggage drop-off" counters.

In these cases you might have to check in at the check-in counter:

  • if you are travelling in a group of more than 9 people
  • if your child is travelling alone

Check-in Counter

A specially marked check-in area will ensure our Business Class guests a fast and convenient check-in process. Our Economy Class guests may use our designated "baggage drop-off" counters after collecting the boarding pass from a check-in kiosks. In any case our ground personnel will be pleased to assist you.

We recommend to use the Austrian web check-in in order to save valuable time at the airport. Please observe the check-in deadlines.

Baggage Check-in Machines

This service is designed to prevent queues and long waiting times in front of the check-in desks.

Once the new service is introduced, we will offer the following check-in options at the Vienna Station:

  • One desk exclusively for HON and Lufthansa and SWISS First Class guests
  • Priority check-in zone for Senators and Business Class guests 
  • Self-service kiosks
  • Baggage check-in machines
  • Traditional bag drop-off desks
  • Desks for checking in large items of baggage

Are you travelling with a suitcase with a RIMOWA Electronic Tag? You can now also use the RIMOWA Electronic Tag for your flights from most airports. By checking in for your Austrian flight using the Lufthansa App and transferring the Electronic Tag, as usual, to your suitcase.

Frequent Flyers Check-in

Our most loyal frequent flyers – HON Circle Members and Senators – will find an exclusive check-in area at Vienna Airport.

Priority Check-in

For an even more exclusive check-in: the new Priority Check-in Zone.

As Business Class customer, Senator or Star Alliance Gold cardholder, you can now start your journey enjoying all benefits of the Austrian Airlines Priority Check-in Zone located in the departure area of Terminal 3.

Exclusive Senator and Business Class counters as well as a Special Assistance Check-in provide personalized service and information across an area of over 300m². Star Alliance Gold card holders may also use the Priority Check-in Zone. All passengers with reduced mobility may use our "Special Assistance" counter for check-in.

Located next to the boarding card and security checkpoint, you have exclusive and direct access to the fast lanes at Vienna Airport through the Priority Check-in Zone.

Late Night Check-in at Vienna Airport

Late Night Check-in gives you the opportunity to check-in your luggage on the previous day.

The daily opening hours for "baggage drop-off" at Vienna International Airport are 02:00 p.m., 04:00 p.m. and 08:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Regional Airports in Austria

Since June 2014 our staff at the check-in counters have extended responsibilities and are the primary point of contact for you in all respects.

In addition to the usual check-in service, extra services such as sports equipment and excess baggage can be paid directly at the check-in counter by credit card.

This one-stop shop concept saves time and effort, and you can get to your flight more quickly.

Late Night Check-in gives you the opportunity to check-in your luggage on the previous day.

Airport Ticket Desk at Regional Airports in Austria

Since June 2014 our staff in the Austrian Service Centre will take care of customers wanting to buy a ticket, or change or cancel their booking directly at the airport.

The Service Centre can be reached at +43 5 1766 1000 from Monday to Sunday from 08:00 a.m. to 08:00 p.m.

Moreover, our customers have direct, free access to our experts by means of the new, red Austrian telephones at the Service Point, the new on-site telephone service area.

Modifications to the ticket and check-in counters at German airports

Effective 1 August 2017, Austrian Airlines has new ticket and check-in counters at Düsseldorf, Hanover, Hamburg, Nuremberg and Stuttgart airports. Check-in can now be completed at the Lufthansa Group counters. At the shared check-in counter you can now already check in much earlier for your flight departing on the same day.

Effective 1 August 2017, it is possible to check in at the Lufthansa check-in machines.

It is not possible to check in the previous evening.

The existing check-in options remain unchanged at the other German departure airports in Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich and Westerland.
