Airport Check-in

Vienna International Airport

Self Service Check-in Kiosk

Avoid unnecessary waiting and use our self service kiosks to check-in and print your boarding pass. All you need is your 6-character booking reference or any form of identification (e.g. credit/debit card or passport). The kiosks offer flexibility with rebookings and waitlists. You may select adjacent seats for up to 3 passengers travelling together.

Travelling with Hand Baggage only

After receiving your boarding pass at the check-in kiosk you may walk straight through security.

Travelling with Luggage

Once you have picked out your boarding pass at the kiosk you may simply hand in your baggage at our designated "baggage drop-off" counters.

In these cases you might have to check in at the check-in counter:

  • if you are travelling in a group of more than 9 people
  • if your child is travelling alone

Check-in Counter

A specially marked check-in area will ensure our Business Class guests a fast and convenient check-in process. Our Economy Class guests may use our designated "baggage drop-off" counters after collecting the boarding pass from a check-in kiosks. In any case our ground personnel will be pleased to assist you.

We recommend to use the Austrian web check-in in order to save valuable time at the airport. Please observe the check-in deadlines.

Baggage Check-in Machines

A new service will enable you to check your baggage in automatically. This will be made possible by putting 16 self-service baggage check-in machines into operation. These will be available in addition to the traditional check-in desks.

This service is designed to prevent queues and long waiting times in front of the check-in desks. Other major airports – Munich, for example – are already using such a service highly successfully.

Once the new service is introduced, we will offer the following check-in options at the Vienna Station:

  • 1 desk exclusively for HON and Lufthansa and SWISS First Class guests
  • 8 Business Class or Star Gold desks
  • 52 self-service kiosks
  • 16 baggage check-in machines
  • 16 traditional bag drop-off desks
  • 2 desks for checking in large items of baggage

Priority Check-in Zone

Our most loyal frequent flyers – HON Circle Members and Senators – will find an exclusive check-in area at Vienna Airport. This area is also available for all Star Alliance Gold Card holders.
