Austrian Airlines continues to suspend flights to Erbil
Following a reassessment of the security situation in Iraq, Austrian Airlines continues to suspend its flights to Erbil to provisionally August 21, 2014. Austrian Airlines regrets any inconvenience that these short-notice cancellations may cause their customers. The safety of passengers and crews, however, remains the company’s highest priority. In transit traffic, for example on flights to Asia and the Middle East, Austrian Airlines will continue to make a detour around Iraqi airspace as well.
Flights to and from the Ukraine and Russia
Due to the increased security situation and the
long-range closure of the airspace Austrian Airlines cancels its flights from
and to Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk in the Ukraine until and including August 21, 2014. The flight program to other
destinations in the Ukraine and Russia will operate as planned. Austrian
Airlines will continue to fly widely around the eastern Ukrainian airspace.
Austrian Airlines is in constant contact with the authorities and airports and
evaluates the situation continually. As long as the
conflict in eastern Ukraine is going on and the airspace around Kharkiv and
Dnipropetrovsk remains closed, the resumption of the flights to the two
Ukrainian destinations is unlikely.
Passengers affected by the cancellations are able to
rebook or refund their flights, free of charge. In the case of a change in
booking the Austrian Service Center can be contacted by phone +43 (0) 5 1766 1000 (Mon–Sun,
08:00 am-08:00 pm). Passengers,
who have booked via a tour operator or travel agency are kindly asked to
contact the tour operator/travel agency where the booking was made.
Temporary suspension of flights to and from Tripoli
Due to several incidents at the international airport Tripoli since March 21, 2014, which lead to the temporary closure of the airport, Austrian Airlines does not offer flights from or to Tripoli at the moment. We constantly evaluate the state of facts, but at the moment no final decision can be made. Therefore, we cannot reinstate flights from or to Tripoli yet. We are in close contact with responsible authorities and we will reevaluate the suspension based on conclusive findings.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause.
