Медичні питання

Here you can find all important medical information.

Is it advisable to fly with asthma or a cardiac insufficiency?

In both cases, a medical check and detailed discussion with the treating doctor are necessary before the flight. The passenger’s fitness to fly must be confirmed by our Medical Service using a specific form (MEDIF). MEDIF/Part 1 and MEDIF/Part 2 have to be completed by the treating doctor and sent to the following fax number: +43 5 1766 51043. Frequently, additional oxygen supplies must be requested at the time of booking; please notify us of this when making your reservation. You will be billed for the costs of this.

Is it advisable to fly with influenza or an infectious condition?

Passengers with contagious diseases are not allowed to fly. The health of passengers with infection-related pressure equalisation disorders in the ear, nose and throat area could be at risk if pressure equalisation is reduced or disturbed in any way. If an infection-related swelling associated with pressure equalisation disorders appears during the flight, it is suggested that the passenger takes a decongestant for the prevention or alleviation of such complaints.

What are the risk factors with thrombosis?

During a long-haul flight, because we remain in a seated position, our veins are put under severe strain for long periods at a time. As a result, the liquidity of our blood can sometimes be insufficient to carry it back to the heart, which then becomes apparent as a swelling in the legs.
The risk of thrombosis depends on a wide range of different factors. The incidence of the condition definitely increases with age. Physical activity in an acute situation, e.g. moving the legs during a long-haul flight, reduces the risk of thrombosis. We recommend that you discuss this with your doctor.

What do I need to take into account if I suffer from diabetes?

As a diabetic, your special dietary needs will of course be met on those flights offering food, as long as you notify us of this request at least 24 hours before departure.
