Important: mandatory provision of APIS data in all bookings
All airlines are required to record the personal information of passengers on flights to/from the USA and pass it on to the government authorities. This information is provided via special Advance Passenger Information System - APIS.
As of October 18th, 2010 all bookings to/from US on austrian.com do have APIS data entered. Austrian customers have to enter their APIS data during booking process, otherwise booking can't be settled.
From Thursday, 8 March 2012, the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is extending this regulation to include overflights of US territory. This means that the collection of Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD), as well as being required for flights to/from the USA, is now also required for flights which along their flight route are scheduled to enter US airspace.
Thousands of Austrian customers booked their flights prior APIS integration. Their PNRs are lacking the TSA requested data. Austrian implemented special online tool to allow customers enter their APIS data for a convenient journey to the United States.
"APIS after sales" tool can be accessed via this link.
