Taxes and Fees

International Travel

Fares: The fare to be paid covers the cost of transporting you from the airport at the actual place of departure to the airport at the actual final destination. It is calculated in accordance with the tariff which is applicable on the day you book your ticket for the flight dates and itinerary shown on your ticket. If you alter your route, this may have an impact on the fare you pay. The fare is recalculated on the basis of the actual route taken and, if applicable, the difference subsequently charged. Your fare does not include ground transport between airports or between airports and city’s centre.

Taxes, Fees and Carrier Charges: Applicable taxes, fees and carrier charges imposed by government or other authority, or by the operator of an airport, shall be payable by you. At the time you purchase your Ticket, you will be advised of taxes, fees and carrier charges not included in the fare, most of which will normally be shown separately on the Ticket.

Government Taxes and Fees

Domestic travel: The U.S. Government requires Austrian Airlines to collect the following taxes and fees in addition to our advertised fare for travel within the United States. A segment is defined as one takeoff and landing.
• USD 3.70 per flight segment, per passenger (U.S. domestic segment tax)
• USD 2.50 per flight segment, per passenger (September 11th security fee)
• USD 3 to USD 18 per passenger (Local airports assess Passenger Facility Charges --PFCs-- this amount varies by airport)
• USD 8.20 per flight segment, per passenger on certain segments beginning or ending in Alaska or Hawaii.

International travel: The U.S. and foreign governments charge additional taxes and fees for international travel. International fares do not include government-imposed taxes/fees. Taxes and fees are subject to change at the discretion of each country’s government and may be adjusted for inflation and/or currency fluctuation. You may be required to pay taxes or fees not already collected.

Should the ticket be lost through unfortunate circumstances, it will be settled on a case by case basis whether a replacement document can be issued or whether it is necessary to purchase another ticket.
