Reaching your departure airport quickly and comfortably

To ensure your journey begins smoothly and comfortably, this page contains useful information on how to travel to Austrian airports as efficiently as possible, and the parking facilities when you arrive at those airport.

  • Airport Vienna
  • Flughafen Wien AG
    A-1300 Wien Flughafen - Postfach 1
    Phone: (+43) 1-7007-0
    Website: www.viennaairport.com

Travelling to the airport by car

The best way to reach Vienna Airport by car is to take the A4 airport motorway. This is signposted for the airport (“Flughafen") and the access road leads to the passenger handling building. Alternatively, you can take the B9 federal highway (“Bundesstraβe”), from where you can also reach the operational entrance to the airport (for cargo and the General Aviation Terminal).

It is only permitted to stop to get into or out of your car and to unload luggage at specially signposted points on the ramp in front of the departures building. Please ensure you adhere to this rule at all times.

Travelling to the airport by public transport

    By City Airport Train (CAT)

As from December 14, 2003 your trip from town to the Vienna Internaional Airport is especially comfortable: The express rail link travels out to the airport twice an hour, and needs just 16 minutes to cover the distance from Vienna’s main city centre railway station – Wien-Mitte – to the airport.

The most innovative feature of the new service is that you can now check in for your flight before getting onto the train in town, as well as make reservations and collect tickets (if tickets directly booked at Austrian Airlines).

Here you can order train tickets online.

    By bus

Please note the bus timetable was produced at the same time as the flight schedule, and is subject to change.

The bus service is available from / to Vienna Westbahnhof, Vienna Südbahnhof, Südtiroler Platz, Schwedenplatz and from the Vienna International Center. You can download the complete folder of Vienna Airport Lines here. (in German language).

Should you have any further queries, please call +43-1-7007-32300.

    Parking at Vienna Airport

The following parking facilities are available to users of Vienna Airport, and are connected to the passenger handling building by specially signposted walkways:

    3 short-stay car parks (K1, K2, K3)
    3 multi-storey car parks (1, 3, 4), and
    1 car park (C).

Payment is to be made before collecting your vehicle using:

    • credit cards
    • Austrian cheque card, or
    • cash

at one of the automated payment machines in the terminal or at the office in car park 4.

After you have paid, you will receive an exit ticket; this will be read automatically at the barrier and allow you to exit within 20 minutes of paying.

Vienna Airport also offers you option of paying your parking fee with credit cards (American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard/Eurocard and Visa) and Austrian Eurocheque card directly at all exit barriers.

For stays lasting over one week, Flughafen Wien AG has concluded agreements with travel agencies governing the purchase of parking tickets for car park C and for the multi-storey car parks. To find out about the most economic parking option, please consult the interactive parking fee calculator or ask a member of staff on your arrival at Vienna Airport.

If your tour operator has issued you with a parking voucher, you will need to cancel this before your journey at the Airport Shop/Information Desk in the main hall. When you leave the parking zone, the barrier will open automatically when you insert your cancelled/paid parking ticket in the correct slot.

    Important note

Your entry ticket will allow you to park free of charge for a maximum of 30 minutes. Even if you leave your parking space within this period, you will need to cancel your parking ticket at one of our automatic payment machines. Once you have paid for your exit ticket, you have 15 minutes to vacate your parking space. Staff at the Airport Shop/Information Desk in the main hall will be happy to help you with any questions you may have about parking every day from 06.30 to 19.00.
